Live A Live Trailers Show Present Day, Distant Future

Square Enix released two more trailers for its upcoming Live A Live Remake. Like the previous videos, the two trailers each focus on one of the eight periods and stories in the game, each of which features its own protagonist.

The first video shows the Present Day chapter. It follows mixed martial artist Masaru Takahara, who dreams of becoming the world’s strongest fighter. He looks to claim the skills of other masters covering Muay Thai, professional wrestling, lucha libre, Koppo, sambo, and sumo. Meanwhile, the second video introduces the Distant Future chapter. It is set on the transport freighter Cogito Ergo Sum. Players control Cube, an autonomous support unit, as a set of incidents puts the crew at risk and sows distrust.

Live A Live was released for Super Famicom in Japan in 1994 and has not previously been released in the west. The game features a turn-based combat system and the main scenarios can be played in any order, with each including its own gameplay gimmicks. The remake utilises the HD-2D graphical style used in Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy, and will release globally on Nintendo Switch on July 22, 2022.
