FuRyu Announces Trinity Trigger

FuRyu has announced new action RPG Trinity Trigger. The game is billed as a revival of 1990s-style RPGs and is developed with studio Three Rings with the development staff including composer Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana, Trials of Mana), character designer Raita Kazama (Xenoblade Chronicles, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia), and world designer Nobuteru Yuki (Chrono Cross, The Vision of Escaflowne).

Trinity Trigger is set in the of world Trinitia, where the Gods of Order and the Gods of Chaos previously fought for control. As a result of their battles, the world began to collapse so each god selected a proxy to act as their chosen warrior, with the victor of the fights between the proxies determining the winner of the wider conflict. Main protagonist Cyan Erleus, a young man living in a quiet village, discovers he is a Warrior of Chaos, and embarks on a journey to try and change his fate. He is joined by allies Elise Quoyse and Xantice Geldine, the latter a priest for the Gods of Order. Other characters’ artwork has been shown but not named or detailed.

The game features spirit-like beings called Triggers, which are attached to summoners. They can manifest as weapons of their summoner’s choosing, and feature designs from Pokémon illustrators Atsuko Nishida, Tomohiro Kitakaze, and Megumi Mizutani. Combat involves a party of up to three members with eight different weapon types available that can be freely changed between, with further customisation also available. The world of Trinitia features numerous cities and varied fields.

Trinity Trigger is planned to launch in Japan on September 15, 2022, and is confirmed for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch. A limited-time demo is available in the country until June 30, 2022, on all three platforms.
