Shining Force II Available on Nintendo Switch Online
Nintendo has added three new Sega Genesis/Mega Drive titles to the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. Of particular interest to RPGamers is tactical RPG Shining Force II, which is joined by shoot-’em-up Space Harrier II and action pinball title Sonic The Hedgehog Spinball. The games are available as part of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership option that grants access to Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis titles on the service.
Shining Force II was originally released for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive in Japan in 1992, and in North America and Europe in 1993. It was developed by Sonic! Software Planning, which later became Camelot, and was later released on the Wii Virtual Console, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as part of Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, PC via Steam, and iOS and Android as part of the Shining Force Classics bundle. Though it takes place in the same world, the game is not directly related to the first Shining Force title, and follows Bowie as he assembles a force to prevent demon lord Zeon from breaking the seal on his power.
