Square Enix Makes Multiple Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai Announcements

Square Enix has made a number of multimedia announcements for Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. The titles are based on a spin-off manga series of the same name that ran in Japan between 1989 and 1996. Of greatest interest to RPGamers is action RPG Infinity Strash – Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai. The game is planned to launch for unspecified consoles in Japan in 2021 and will see players controlling characters from The Adventure of Dai and facing off against monsters and other foes.

Two other games were also announced. The first is Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Tamashii no Kizuna, which is a “dash RPG” planned for release on iOS and Android in 2021. The second is Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai – Xross Blade, which is a card-battling arcade game developed with Takara Tomy A.R.T.S, that will be available in Japanese arcades this fall. Finally, a new animated series produced with Toei Animation will begin airing in Japan in October 2020. A previous series was produced in 1991 but only covered half of the overall series.

Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai follows a young boy named Dai, who is the only human on an island populated by monsters and lives with his adoptive grandfather Brass and friend Gome. Events see him being instructed in becoming a hero after he saves a princess, before being forced to fight against the return of the Demon King Hadlar, who was thought defeated ten years before.
