Utawarerumono Games Released on Mobile in Japan as Visual Novels

Aquaplus has released three Utawarerumono titles in Japan on iOS and Android. The mobiles versions of the games — Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen, Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception, and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth — are free-to-play but have had their tactical RPG combat elements taken out, leaving them as straight visual novel versions.

Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen is a remaster of the first Utawarerumono game, which takes place prior to the Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth duology. The game was released in Japan in 2018 and is set to be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in North America and Europe in 2020, courtesy of publisher NIS America. Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth follow new protagonist Haku and were released in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2017 by Atlus.
