Kickstarter Check-In: February 2019 Edition

RPGamer’s ad hoc Kickstarter Check-In feature returns for a look at several ongoing crowdfunding campaigns. This edition features Ark Heiral’s Chained Echoes, Chibig’s Summer in Mara, StoryTellers Entertainment and Matthew S. Thomas’ Imperium Omni, and Flat Parrot’s Under Stranger Stars.


Chained Echoes

Chained Echoes is a 16-bit fantasy RPG from Ark Heiral. Set in a fantasy world, Chained Echoes follows a group of heroes who are brought together to try and end a continental war and destroy a recently-uncovered weapon of mass destruction. The game features a turn-based combat system and no random encounters, with combat taking place on set battlefields with their own environmental elements that can be taken advantage of. Players will also be able to pilot and upgrade their own mechs and airship.

Ark Heiral is looking for €60,000 in funding by March 7, 2019. Those who pledge at least €17 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. Chained Echoes is being developed for PC, Mac, and Linux, with an initial planned release window of 2021. PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions are included as part of the campaign stretch goals.

 


Summer in Mara

Summer in Mara is an adventure RPG with farming and crafting-sim elements. The game is set in a tropical ocean, with players sailing on their boat to visit other islands, which may be home to others who players can trade with. Players will also need to take care of their own island and gather resources, using these to create new tools and structures.

Developer Chibig has already passed its €20,000 funding goal, with the campaign set to run until March 8, 2019. Those who pledge at least €16 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. Summer in Mara is currnetly planned for release in late 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

 


Imperium Omni

Imperium Omni is a four-part serialised retro fantasy RPG. Set on the world of Aeris Pri, Imperium Omni covers several decades of events in its four parts titled Captain’s Edition, General’s Edition, King/Queen Edition and Emperor/Empress Edition. A full-length novel written by creator Matthew S. Thomas goes over the story of the first part and is available to all those who pledge to the campaign.

Imperium Omni‘s campaign has already passed its $25,000 funding goal, with the campaign set to run until February 27, 2019. Those who pledge at least $25 will receive a digital copy of the first part of the series as part of their backer rewards. Imperium Omni is being developed for PC, with the first part planned for release in late 2020. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, iOS, and Android versions are being considered.

 


Under Stranger Stars

Under Stranger Stars is a twin-stick spacefaring RPG heavily inspired by recent release Sunless Skies as well as Futurama and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Players captain their own ship, potentially fighting pirates, smuggling goods, or raiding freighters. Exploration and combat uses a top-down view, with the damage done to both player and enemy ship subsystems affecting their abilities.

Flat Parrot is looking for NZ$30,000 in funding by March 8, 2019. Those who pledge at least NZ$20 will receive a digital copy of the game as part of their backer rewards. Under Stranger Stars is being developed for PC and Xbox One, with an initial planned release window of late 2019. A Nintendo Switch version is included as part of the campaign stretch goals.
