Backloggin’ the Year – April 2018 Edition

April was a failure in terms of gaming. I spent the majority of the month playing Overwatch hyping myself up for the Retribution event. I also had a month where I was on the last steps to getting my mother’s house up for sale, so my stress levels were (and still are) much higher than I’d care to admit to. Still, I made some progress in some RPGs — it’s just a shame I didn’t knock any out of the backlog. In fact, the one game I beat was something I borrowed from work! It wasn’t even from my backlog.

I feel so behind. [insert ugly sobs here]

Galaxy of Pen & Paper

The RPG that managed to hold my attention throughout April was Galaxy of Pen & Paper. It was a game I meant to have reviewed last year, and failed to do so. I feel like I may be nearing the end of the game, as I am starting to run out of additional quests that I can take on. I admit, I am a bit cheesed at the game given I’ve hit a bit of a roadblock. I have to fight six overpowered Starmen-esque enemies, and it isn’t much of a fair fight. I feel like I either need to grind or re-evaluate the current classes I am using to see if there are skills that I am not utilizing. Currently, I am using an Engineer, Heavy, Gadgeteer and a Bounty Hunter. If anyone has any good suggestions for class combos, I’d love to hear it.

Suikoden II

Many of you who have been following the site for awhile know I am a hardcore Suikoden fangirl, and II is my favourite of the series. I’ve been having cravings to replay the game, and decided it was time to boot up my Vita and rekindle the love affair. At this point in the game, I have just hit the city of Muse and have just met Annabelle. I am coming up to a very memorable moment in the game, and I hate every time I encounter it. Hopefully, I’ll have played more through May.

And the Rest…

Give how stressful April was, I am not surprised that I didn’t manage to finish any games from my backlog. I really wasn’t in the mood for an RPG and I know that was part of it as well. I booted up Collar X Malice and so far have only finished Okazaki’s route, and then for my second playthrough well… I probably should have saved this character for last, but I am on Shiraishi’s route now. OH WELL. Probably going to try and Platinum this one, but we’ll see if it holds my interest long enough given my giant pile of games to play.

I also was naughty and the one game I finished for the month was Rise of the Tomb Raider, which I borrowed from work. IT WASN’T EVEN IN MY BACKLOG. I am precious, I swear. I loved the game, but probably should have played stuff from my gaming piles.

And I promise you all that once my life has slowdown and I am not dealing with selling a house and finding a place to live that I WILL go back to Final Fantasy X. I mean it! I WILL!

Here’s hoping May is a bit more successful!

The suikoden 1 and 2 combo is pretty short and sweet. I’m good for it every 2 or 3 years, and I love it just as much every time.
