Digital Store Weekly Round-Up (Jan. 4, 2018)
Welcome to RPGamer’s weekly round-up on releases. This column is a reformatting of our previous digital update column, continuing to providing information on recent releases and sales for RPGs across the digital marketplace. We will no longer be providing a full list of games and prices in sales due to the prohibitive time and effort cost required to do so, but will be giving direct links to those sales so readers can easily check out the listings.
It’s a quiet week for new releases to kick off the year, with the sole notable release being Fallen Legion+ making its way to PC via Steam tomorrow.
PS Plus, Games with Gold
January’s PS Plus games provide a few titles of interest for RPGamers. Both North America and Europe receive Deus Ex: Mankind Divided on PS4 and Sacred 3 on PS3. The non-RPG titles include visual novel Psycho-Pass: Mandatory Happiness available on PlayStation Vita. The Xbox Games with Gold offerings for this month also feature an RPG, with NeocoreGames’ The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing II available throughout the month.
Sales and Discounts
Starting with PlayStation offerings in North America, the Holiday Sale continues into week four, providing some new offerings and keeping many of the previous sales going for those who didn’t pick them up earlier.
For PlayStation-owning RPGamers in Europe, the huge January Sale is underway. Listing all of the games on sales across PS4, PS3, and Vita will take far too long, but it includes big titles such as Persona 5, Tales of Berseria, Mass: Effect Andromeda, Pyre, Trails of Cold Steel, and many, many more.
On the Xbox side of things, this week’s sales include Diablo III on both Xbox One and 360, and The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing for Xbox One, though both are only available to Gold members. Nintendo has some continued discounts in North America, while Europe’s New Year Sale includes titles like Fire Emblem Echoes and a few Zelda titles. Steam’s Winter Sale may be over, but at the time of writing it has discounts for Battle Chasers: Nightwar, Phantom Brave, and a selection of small indie titles.
