SOL Shogunate Dev Diary Introduces Its Setting
Developer Chaos Manufacturing released a first developer diary video for its samurai space opera action RPG SOL Shogunate. The five-minute video features Game Director Leszek SzczepaĆski and Narrative Director Cindi Knapton, who discuss the game’s setting of a future colonised solar system that is ruled by a powerful shogunate with various locations that draw on different parts of Japanese history and culture.
SOL Shogunate follows Yuzuki, the former heir to a once-powerful samurai family who has been massacred by a rival clan. She embarks on a quest of vengeance that takes her across a lunar metropolis, space elevators, and artificial Earth-like comforts. The game features multiple weapon types, with weapons able to be infused with different elemental effects, while players can also utilise gene splices to gain new skills and abilities. Boss encounters are said to make use of collaborations with Japanese rock acts such as AliA. A release window has not been announced, but the game is available to wishlist on Steam and is also confirmed for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
