Shinigami Hime to Ishokan no Kaibutsu Details Facilities

Nippon Ichi Software provided new details for its upcoming “picture book”-style adventure title Shinigami Hime to Ishokan no Kaibutsu. The new information and screenshots cover some of the facilities available to players in the game.

Shinigami Hime to Ishokan no Kaibutsu follows a young girl called Mono. She learns that her sister is in an isolated facility for those afflicted by the “Shinigami Disease”, which turns those affected into a picture book, from which a monster eventually emerges. Mono forms a deal with legendary monster Melhendia, nicknamed Mel, which sees Mel protecting Mono as she dives into the picture books of humans afflicted by the disease.

The reception center for the facility serves as Mono’s base for her adventures, where a variety of monsters live, with some agreeing to help Mono when befriended. The Rad Hatter is a mouse-like Shinigami who loves fashion. Mono can trade him paper scraps that she finds within book worlds for accessories that she can wear. Meanwhile, Owlin is an owl-like Shinigami with lots of knowledge and a sense for adventure. By trading paper scraps with him, Mono can obtain information and markers for picture book worlds, with him also providing potential hints on where to go next. Finally, Voicecat is a cat-like Shinigami with a seemingly independent mouse-like tail. Trading paper scraps with him lets Mono obtain information about Shinigami, including their weaknesses. Other Shinigami will let players access a gallery or see Mono’s past memories.

Shinigami Hime to Ishokan no Kaibutsu is a spiritual follow-up to The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince and The Cruel King and the Great Hero. As with the previous titles, the character and world designs are done by Sayaka Oda, with Kento Jobana (Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless) joining as scenario writer. The game is planned to release in Japan for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 on April 30, 2026.
