Spellcrafting RPG Foundlings Announced

Developer Maypole Games announced its debut title, Foundlings. The game is a pixel-graphic spellcrafting RPG set in a version of 12th-century England. It is available to wishlist on Steam.

Foundlings is set around the Revolt of 1173 and follows two mages — healer’s apprentice Agnes and ex-executioner Frant — who are arrested on the same night for performing unsanctioned magical acts. They are tasked by a local lord with tracking down the head of a deviant mages’ guild, said to be responsible for recent unrest.

The game’s combat mixes tactical planning with real-time spell execution that makes use of conduits, scrolls, and potions. It also makes use of the Four Humours system and planetary movements; players will need to balance blood, phlegm, yellow bile, and black bile to stablise their emotions while spells can be aligned to enhance their effects. Foundlings is planned to feature over ten potential endings, with players making various choices through branching dialogues and skill checks that shape the story.
