Turn-Based Tactical RPG Norse Announced
Publisher Tripwire Presents and developer Arctic Hazard have revealed turn-based tactical RPG Norse. The game is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is planned to release later this year.
Norse puts players in Viking Age Norway, where they take on the role of young warrior Gunnar. The game’s story is written by author Giles Kristian and sees Gunnar set on a quest for vengeance after his father, Jarl Gripr, is murdered by Steinarr Far-Spear, who usurps his seat. Players build up their own settlement and gather allies in order to train up their own warband.
The game features various decisions as players pass judgments, settle disputes, initiate projects, and face off against rival clans. Exploration is done in real-time, with combat being turn-based and incorporating elements such as the Glima martial art. Players can establish trade and alliances with other clans as well as looting and crafting equipment or unlocking abilities to give them an advantage in combat.
