Utawarerumono Trilogy Japanese Switch Release Pushed Back

Devleoper Aquaplus announced a delay for its Nintendo Switch release of the Utawarerumono trilogy in Japan. The full bundle of the games — Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen, Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth — that were slated for late January 2025, will now launch on February 27, 2024. Meanwhile, individual games will launch separately on April 24, 2025.

Developed in conjunction with Sting, the Utawarerumono games combine visual novel and tactical RPG gameplay. Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen is a remake of the first game in the visual novel/tactical RPG series that originally released in 2002 in Japan. The game stars Hakuowlo, a man with amnesia who is trying to find his place in the world while embracing his destiny. Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth are a sequel duology taking place some years after the first game. They follow another young man with amnesia, who awakens in the middle of nowhere wearing a hospital gown.
