Turn-Based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Announced

Publisher Kepler Interactive and developer Sandfall Interactive have announced Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The studio’s debut title, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a turn-based RPG with real-time elements and an art style and world inspired by Belle Époque era France.

The game is set in a world where, once a year, a being called the Paintress wakes and paints a cursed number upon a monolith, which causes everyone of that age to turn to smoke and disappear. Each year, that number ticks down, with the current year set to be the number 33. Players join Gustave and other members of an expedition that sets out, in the footsteps of previous failed expeditions, to try and end the cycle of death once and for all.

Players will be able to create their own builds for their party with gear, attributes, skills, and synergies. Combat will utilise a free aim system to let players target weak points, as well as to dodge, parry, and counter in real time. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and is currently planned to release in 2025.
