Cairn: Mathair’s Curse Demo Available

Solo developer Ross McRitchie released a demo for his upcoming RPG Cairn: Mathair’s Curse. The demo (available on Steam) allows players to play through the first chapter of the full game, plus an area exclusive to the demo designed to exhibit the game’s battle system.

Cairn: Mathair’s Curse is set in the fictional world of Albaness, which is inspired by the Scottish Highlands in the early 2000s. The story follows the adventure of a young boy named Alex and his friends, who must save their hometown from a curse cast by a mysterious cult. The game is billed as a JRPG with “plenty of Scottish humour”. It features a turn-based battle system, party management, and puzzle solving. Cairn: Mathair’s Curse is currently in development for PC (via Steam), with a release planned for Q3 2024.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly become obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as more as gameplay. Now, I am, writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
