Morgana Gives Third Report on Persona 5 Royal
Atlus has released its third entry in its Japanese Morgana’s Report series of videos for Persona 5 Royal. The video shows a number of new elements in the game, divided into a combat-related section and another focusing on the new area of Kichijoji.
New to combat are “Show Time” techniques, joint attacks that can be used when the bonds between characters become high enough. Meanwhile, Personas can gain traits that provide special effects and can be carried over when fusing them into new Personas, and special accessories will let characters use certain abilities even though their current Persona may not have them. Finally, the Baton Touch feature, which lets players pass on the turn to another character if they hit a weakness, will offer additional bonuses that can be unlocked by playing darts with party members during free time.
The new Kichijoji area includes a number of facilities including darts, pool, a jazz club, and a temple. These facilities can offer various improvements to characters, such as the aforementioned boosts to the Baton Touch feature and increases to maximum SP. Kichijoji also features new shops where players can trade in equipment for money and other potential items.
Persona 5 Royal will continue the game into the third semester of the school year in Japan, which runs from January to April. It will also add new locations, new events, new combat strategies, and other features. The game will be released in Japan for PlayStation 4 on October 31, 2019, before coming to North America and Europe in 2020.
