Chris, weren’t you playing a Yakuza game in 2017 that you greatly enjoyed but never finished? I say finish the 2017 game(s) you had the most fun with, and that one’s got to be a contender.
If you have finished it, there’s got to be some other 2017 games you had a blast with but didn’t reach credits on.

I don’t think I can recommend any 2017 games that Chris hasn’t probably already played. I know he played Persona 5, so that’s right out. I can’t remember if he played Horizon Zero Dawn, but he probably did. I don’t know. I assume he played Breath of the Wild or that would have been mentioned along with Mario. I guess I recommend Mario as predicted, but it’s just okay really, and I haven’t even finished it.
