Upcoming Pokémon Titles Get New Media, Details

The Pokémon Company released new media and details for Pokémon Legends: Arceus and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The media includes new trailers for the games, as well as plenty of screenshots.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus sees players venturing out to help create the Hisui region’s — later called the Sinnoh region — first Pokédex. Early on, players will receive the Arc Phone, the appearance of which suggests a connection to the legendary Pokémon Arceus. While adventuring, players may find larger-than-normal Pokémon with glowing red eyes. These are alpha Pokémon that are stronger and more aggressive than their normal counterparts.

Hisui is also home to special Pokémon with a mysterious blessing. Particularly powerful examples are known as noble Pokémon, and some assist people living in the region. Wardens are tasked with protecting these Pokémon, ensuring that their territories are unviolated and providing offerings of food and water. However, noble Pokémon are known to be driven into a frenzy by a strange phenomenon. When this happens, the Galaxy Expedition Team (which the player is part of as part of its Survey Corps) is tasked to help quell them.

Players will receive a Celestica Flute, which lets them ride certain Pokémon and get around the region much faster. Players can find various facilities at Jubilife Village, which acts as their home base, including a clothier, a hairdresser, a photography studio, a general store, a craftworks, and pastures where Pokémon not in the battle party are looked after. Pokémon Legends: Arceus will release for Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2022.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of the fourth-generation titles Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, which were released for Nintendo DS in Japan in 2006 and in the west in 2007. The games give players the Pokétch, an all-purpose tool that has a variety of apps for different situations and uses. One example is the Dowsing Machine app, which lets players find hidden items. It also lets players call on wild Pokémon to use hidden moves like Cut and Rock Climb.

Hearthome City contains a relaxing place called Amity Square, designed for trainers to spend time with their Pokémon. Players can walk with up to six of their Pokémon — provided they are in the list of permitted ones — and adjust the camera angle and zoom to take photos and videos. Players can also make Poffins, which raise Pokémon conditions such as Coolness or Cuteness for Pokémon Contests. In the remakes, players can now make Poffins in Amity Square as well as the Poffin House. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will release for Nintendo Switch on November 19, 2021.
