Bombservice Developing Record of Dorathia

Momodora series developer Bombservice announced that it is working on a turn-based dungeon-crawling RPG titled Record of Dorathia. The game is being developed by a core team of four members. A release window has not been announced.

Record of Dorathia is set in a mysterious location known as the Observatory, with players controlling a party of wandering souls summoned by the witch Monna. She claims to be one of the twelve magi, weavers of fate and creators and keepers of worlds mentioned in a previous Momodora game. Players enter a covenant with Monna and agree to travel into another world to find the soul of her sister Alma, with the Observatory acting as a base where players can find some helpful NPCs and facilities.

The game will feature traditional dungeon-crawling gameplay as players navigate labyrinths, find loot, and encounter various enemies. Combat makes heavy use of status effects, including boss fights, though with some adjustments. For example, the sleep spell will make bosses Drowsy instead of putting them fully to sleep, which reduces their attack and agility for a number of turns. It will also have a mechanic that rewards players for actions such as critical hits and hitting weaknesses. The player’s party will be made up of four characters from eight classes with customisable palettes: Dark Knight, Oathkeeper, Cleric, Oracle, Blademaster, Monk, Hunter, and Witch.
