Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Set for November, Further Details Released

The Pokémon Company released new media and details for Game Freak’s latest mainline Pokémon titles, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The games will release worldwide for Nintendo Switch on November 18, 2022. They will be available physically and digitally, including in a physical bundle containing both games, with European copies for the dual pack including a SteelBook case.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will feature two different professors — Professor Sada in Scarlet and Professor Turo in Violet — each of whom are conducting research into the new, currently unnamed region’s lore. They also include a new rival trainer, Nemona. In addition to once again showing the new starter Pokémon — Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon; Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon; and Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon — the video introduces three more new Pokémon that start off on Nemona’s team.

The Electric-type Mouse Pokémon Pawmi generates electricity by rubbing its cheeks, then uses it to shock opponents by touching them with its paw pads. The Normal-type Hog Pokémon Lechonk has a great sense of smell, using it to find fragrant plants that in turn cause it to give off a bug-repelling scent, and will charge at enemies if startled. Finally, the Grass/Normal-type Olive Pokémon Smoliv can shoot out a bitter oil from its head at attackers, while it also produces a nutritious oil from the flower on its head for sustenance. The video also gives a sneak peek at the games’ Legendary Pokémon, Koraidon and Miraidon.

Alongside providing open-world exploration as well as other changes introduced in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will include four-player multiplayer, letting players explore the game’s regions together. They will also feature many of the series’ usual trading and battling multiplayer features.
