Nihon Falcom announced that the PlayStation 4 version of The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II will be released in Japan on April 26, 2017. Dubbed Trails of Cold Steel II: Kai - The Erebonian Civil War, the PlayStation 4 release will feature similar enhancements to its predessor's upcoming port: a 60 frames-per-second frame rate, 4K resolutions, a high-speed skip option for both events and combat, as well as having all the pieces of DLC included. The release will also be compatible with save files from the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions, letting players pick up where they left off, and will also provide bonuses for those with Trails of Cold Steel and Trails of Cold Steel III save files.
Trails of Cold Steel was originally released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, with XSEED Games releasing a PC version earlier this year and the PlayStation 4 version arriving in Japan on March 8, 2017. Trails of Cold Steel II was also released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, with a PC version also coming from XSEED Games in 2018. Trails of Cold Steel III was released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on September 28, 2017. No announcement has been made regarding a western release for Trails of Cold Steel III, the new title, or the PlayStation 4 versions of Trails of Cold Steel and Trails of Cold Steel II.
