Japanese developer and publisher Nippon Ichi Software released the first trailer for its upcoming RPG Anata no Shikihime Kyoudoutan, also known as Your Four Knight Princesses Training Story. The three-minute trailer is joined by more details on the gameplay, as well as some new screenshots.
Players control a knight instructor, recruited to train the four princesses from different island kingdoms. Players must provide a training session for each princess, but after these they select a princess to enter a contract with. This gives the game multiple different stories featuring each princess, with player's decisions in how they train their chosen princess also affecting events.
A direct training system lets players either praise or scold the princess at various times, both in battle and in conversation, which may affect subsequent dialogue or provide special scenes. By scolding or praising, players may gain knowledge materia, which can used to strengthen one of the princess' five attributes: martial, culture, courage, ethics, and reliance.
In battle, the protagonist and princess join the regular soldiers. Though the protagonist is powerful, the sheer number of enemies means he will need the support of the other troops. There are multiple types of soldiers including pawns and magic soldiers. Relics can be found on the battle map, and capturing these provides players with traps or healing spots. Some maps also feature giant boss enemies. By scolding or praising the princess' action in battle, players can earn bonuses such as power-ups and recovery.
Anata no Shikihime Kyoudoutan is being developed for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Nintendo Switch with Japanese release date of January 25, 2018. No announcement has been made regarding a possible western release.
