Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VI is now available on the PlayStation Network as a PSOne Classic. PlayStation 3 and PSP owners can get their hands on the game for $9.99. Much like with the PSOne Classic version of Final Fantasy V, this release will be identical to previous releases of the game's PlayStation port, and will feature some elements, such as FMV sequences, that were not in the original SNES game.
While Final Fantasy VI's PSN release is great for a lot of fans, it is not the first time it has been released for download, as it was released for the Wii's Virtual Console service earlier this year. The Virtual Console release is based off of the original SNES game, so it lacks the frills of the PlayStation port, but doesn't have some of the problems that affect the PS1 versions of Square's SNES games.
