SEGA has announced that Phantasy Star Online 2 will not make its planned 2011 launch date and will instead be delayed into next year.
An alpha test period was completed in August, with producer Satoshi Sakai claiming that over twenty thousand suggestions and opinions were received from the test players. The schedule change now sees a second alpha test take place in early 2012, which will be open to all players from the first alpha test and some additional participants to be selected in December. A beta test will follow, however the time frame for the beta test has not yet been given.
Phantasy Star Online 2 is currently planned to be released solely on PC, and there has been no announcement as of yet for a North American release.
