Halloween is almost upon us, and many MMORPGs are getting into the spirit of the holiday with special events. Here's a rundown of the Halloween events in some of North America's major MMORPGs. While we haven't covered the events in every MMORPG out there, our readers are invited to visit this story's forum post and advertise the Halloween events in their favourite game of choice.
Age of Conan
Oct. 22 - Nov. 2
The Night of Lost Souls will pit Hyborean adventurers against three lost souls. Triumphant players can win various gruesome pieces of loot.
Oct. 27 - Nov. 10
Aion's Harvest Revel has been interrupted by mischevious Shulacks, who have stolen all the festival's candy. It's up to the players to get it back.
City of Heroes
Oct. 21 - Oct. 31
Characters will be able to trick-or-treat in various locations, earning prizes or nasty surprises. There will also be roaming zombie hordes and a special Halloween story arc.
Oct. 14 - Nov. 8
Everquest II's Nights of the Dead features costumes, house items, quests and events, and scary surprises in the Nektulos Forest.
Free Realms has a large number of activities for Halloween, such as costumes, community parties, trick-or-treating, and a vampires versus werewolves dance-off.
Oct. 21 - Nov. 2
Mad King Thorn and his entourage will return to Tyria this year. The King himself will show up on Halloween, but the rest of the festival features creepy treats and new quests. (Note that as of this writing, no new quests have been implemented in the game.)
Oct. 26 - Oct. 28
Lineage II characters may encounter an elpy, and if they whisper the secret Halloween phrase to it, they will be transported into a room full of loot-filled goodness.
World of Warcraft
Oct. 18 - Oct. 31
World of Warcraft's annual Hallow's End festival hasn't changed much from previous years, but players can now easily access the Headless Horseman fight via the random dungeon finder. Players can also go trick-or-treating and fight off the Horseman's blazing attack on newbie towns.
