This holiday season is going to be known as the time when the PS2 hit its stride with respect to RPG output. A number of promising titles are on the horizon, one of which is Jade Cocoon 2, sequel to the well received PSone game. The game's North American publisher, Ubi Soft, announced today that the game has gone gold and should be arriving on shelves across the continent on December 18 at a MSRP of $49.99.
Developed by Japanese developer Genki, who also worked on the first game, Jade Cocoon 2 is a direct sequel that maintains the gameplay style of its predecessor. One of the most immediately striking aspects of the title is the gorgeous character design, courtesy of Katsuya Kondou who previously worked on such anime hits as "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "Princess Mononoke" during his tenure at Studio Ghibli. Infusing monster collecting and turn-based battles with an absorbing story, Jade Cocoon 2 is sure to be a crowd pleaser. Check back with us later in the month for a full review.
