An article posted this morning at FGN Online states that Tetsu Kayama (of Sega of Japan) has confirmed that there will be a sequel to the recent Dreamcast RPG, Skies of Arcadia. No further details are known at this time, such as how closely the sequel will follow the first game, whether the team from the first game will be working on this, when this sequel will be released, or the role of Mr. Kayama at Sega of Japan.
While this is hardly official confirmation that Sega is working on a sequel, it is still excellent news, as this is the first indication that a sequel is underway. It makes quite a bit of sense, as well; Skies of Arcadia was only released recently in North America, yet stands to be one of the most popular RPGs this year. The recent staff review of Skies of Arcadia calls it the best RPG of this year, one of a select few games to earn RPGamer's highest rating. A sequel would be more than welcome.
