With the impending release of Capcom's Monster Hunter Stories, Nintendo has released a new trailer showing off a day in the life of the main character, Rider. The video, viewable below, offers a look at the gameplay mechanics and monsters of Monster Hunter Stories.
The trailer shows off the turn-based battle system, where both Rider and the monster accompanying him each independently attack enemies every turn. The battle system presents the player with a rock-paper-scissors style choice. If the player's choice matches the accompanying monster's choice, it allows the player to pull off a double attack and increases a kinship gauge which allows for powerful special moves. The video also shows off stealing eggs from monster nests and gives a glimpse of the breeding system that comes from hatching those eggs.
Monster Hunter Stories releases on 3DS and 2DS systems in North America and Europe on September 8, 2017. For those interested, a demo is available now via the Nintendo eShop.
