In a summer showcase highlighting upcoming indie titles on Nintendo platforms, Nintendo gave screentime to several upcoming indie RPGs. Each game was given a short time in the spotlight during the twenty-minute presentation alongside a release period for each. A full video of the spotlight is also available below.
The first, Golf Story, is a unique title that takes the player through the world of golf. As players progress through the game's story mode, different areas can be explored for people to meet, challenges to overcome, items to collect, and, of course, various forms of golf. Golf Story will arrive exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in September 2017.
Dragon: Marked for Death is an action RPG set in a dark fantasy universe. This side-scrolling cooperative adventure will have up to four players — via local or online play — forging a pact with a dragon to gain new abilities. The game will offer four different character types as well as thirty missions to play through. The game will be available exclusively on the Nintendo Switch during the winter of 2017/2018.
Finally, Frozenbyte, the developer behind the Trine series, has a new game set in the same universe called Nine Parchments. Players will take control of up to four apprentice mages. joining forces online or locally, who have skipped out on school to search for the Nine Parchments. While travelling through the world and fighting off the many monsters, players will level up, learn new spells from a constantly changing arsenal, unlock new characters and items, and maybe just wreak enough havoc to get each other killed. Nine Parchments will be available this holiday season for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
