Gust provided new details and media for its latest Atelier title, Atelier Firis: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Journey. Introduced in this update are various characters and story aspects, including the appearance of an eleven-year-old named Escha. She will be joined by Atelier Sophie's returning version of Logy, with both being ostensibly different people to the protagonists of Atelier Escha & Logy.
This version of Escha lives in the town of Flussheim, and has a curious and excitable personality. The twenty-eight-year-old Logy also now lives in Flussheim, having moved from Kirchen Bell, where he works as a blacksmith. Joining the pair in Flussheim are twelve-year-old Mea Holthaus and her twenty-five-year-old sailor brother Kai Holthaus. Two other characters introduced were Kald Lau, a historian who has a phobia of women, and Kirsche Litter, who is from the snow village of Flocke and the youngest person to pass the alchemist's exam.

The alchemist's exam offers the first reason for main character Firis Mistroot to undertake her titular journey. In order to qualify for the exam, she needs to attain recommendations from proven alchemists. This journey will take Firis about a year, during which she'll visit the snow village of Flocke and border town of Reisenberg, after which she will take the certified alchemist exam. After this Firis decides to set out on a new journey to discover what is she wants to do after becoming an official alchemist.
Atelier Firis is the second title in Atelier's Mysterious sub-series — following Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book — and is currently set for release in Japan on September 29, 2016, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. There is currently no news regarding a possible western release.
