Symbols Invade Legendia

Tales of Legendia / Namco

Yesterday's propaganda update for Namco's upcoming title, Tales of Legendia, revealed several new bits of information concerning the title's battle system. Apparently, players will be aided by a slew of icons, indicators, and grammatical symbols.

Those who tire of getting decimated by an unexpected super-strike are in luck, as enemies in Tales of Legendia will sprout an exclamation point above their head the turn before they unleash a particularly devastating attack. This indication will, obviously, give players time to either prepare for the assault or annihilate the foe. Also, a red ring of a varying size will surround some enemies. These rings denote a "danger zone," and when a character enters this zone they will suffer from some sort of status effect.

The appearance of such indicators isn't limited to battles, however. At times, players will stumble upon weird bubbles both on the world map and in dungeons. These bubbles are "chaotic zones;" that is, zones in which unusually tough, never-before-seen enemies are lurking.

Tales of Legendia will see a Japanese release on August 25 and a North American localization sometime in the February of 2006. RPGamer will bring you more news as it surfaces.
