Dolphin to use S3's Graphics Technology

Nintendo and S3 Incorporated announced their partnership earlier today to use S3's industry-leading graphics technology on Nintendo's upcoming console system, codenamed Dolphin. So, what's that mean for us? Well, the technology they're talking about will all but eliminate the blurriness, blockiness, and repitition of the same elements on the screen. Using this technology will also allow Dolphin developers to compress texture data to one-sixth it's normal size while maintaining, or even improving the image quality of the original artwork. Larger and more detailed textures will now require less memory and reduced load time. Look for more realistic characters, locations, and all-around smoother graphics as the Dolphin takes another step in the right direction.
