Nihon Falcom released new details of its upcoming Japanese release of Ys VIII: Lacrimose of Dana. The new information, which is accompanied by a fresh batch of screenshots, details how the connection between protagonists Adol and Dana works in the game, as well as extra events and notes.
The two main protagonists, Adol and Dana are present in different worlds but share a consciousness between them. Players can switch between the two characters and worlds by finding and interacting with certain points in the game. Actions taken in Dana's world can have an impact on Adol's adventures on the Isle of the Seiren, for example by causing new paths to open up.
Back on the Isle of the Seiren, players can give special present items to certain NPCs at the floating village. These items can trigger extra events and increase party member stats or NPC support abilities. Dotted around the island are also notes that has have been left by previous explorer called "T" and pirates that have visited the island. These notes will offer hints that can aid Adol and his friends in their explorations.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is set to released for PlayStation Vita on July 21, 2016, with a PlayStation 4 version to follow in early 2017. No announcement has been made regarding a Western release.
