Falcom has released new screens and a video for its upcoming newest entry in the Ys series, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. In a combination of art and screens, it showcased new characters Dina and Kuina as well as the quest system in the Drifting Village.
Dina is a merchant involved in the shipwreck accident outside the Isle of Seiren who's frantic to regain her earnings. When the player rescues her, a trading post opens in Drifting Village. Not much was revealed about Kuina besides her artwork and that she has been wandering the Isle of Seiren on her own, wearing sailor's clothes.

During the course of the game, a bulletin board is placed in the Drifting Village for the castaways to post requests of Adol and his party. Players can receive rewards for completing these requests, as well as having increased counterattack potential for the castaway tied to that request. Some examples are making a curtain by gathering materials and delivering large eggs.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is due out in Japan on PlayStation Vita on July 21, 2016 and on PlayStation 4 in early 2017. No announcement has been made regarding a Western release.
