Two new characters were introduced in the recent updates. Cesare, a childhood friend of the protagonists and Prince of Gywall, uses a greatsword in combat that can be imbued with different elemental properties. Orneze, a travelling, world-renowned warrior, fights with a giant axe that can be used to break through enemy armor or make big, sweeping arcs to take out many smaller enemies at once.
Players will also have the ability to change their class over the course of the game between five available options: Warrior, Martial Artist, Mage, Priest, and Thief. Each class will have different abilities, skill trees, and weapon proficencies. The game's coin system will also be expanded to allow the player to transform into a monster for a short period of time using a new type of coin. Square Enix also plans to patch in a multiplayer battle mode after the game's Japanese release.
Dragon Quest Heroes II releases on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita in Japan on May 27, 2016. As of now there are no announced plans for a release in the West.
