Atlus has revealed that, after two and a half years of operation, the servers for the online mode of Demon's Souls will be shut down at midnight on May 31. These servers were originally only going to be active for one year because of the cost required to keep them operating, but Atlus extended their operation twice due to the game's continued popularity. The deactivation of these servers will make the many unique features of the Demon's Souls online mode unavailable, but the game will still be playable in offline mode.
Two special World Tendency events will take place in the month leading up to the shutdown, which will be determined by fan voting. One will run from May 1 through 15, and the other will go from May 16 until the end of the month.
