First announced in a trailer at TGS 2010, some details on Phantasy Star Online 2 have finally been revealed. This information comes from a trailer shown at the Akihabara installment of the Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity national fan appreciation event on April 24. The story of the game apparently focuses on the ship fleet Oracle as it travels through space. The people of the Oracle must fight a malicious invasion spreading through the universe.
The video also mentioned several phrases and words, with little in the way of explanation. The fields will apparently be random. There will be weather effects, "Jump Action," "Hybrid Custom Action," and "TPS style," among other things. At the fan event, Phantasy Star series producer Satoshiu Sakai said that PSO2 will give players the feeling of adventure that has been lost in RPGs today. He also hopes that the game will be enjoyed by both veterans of the PSO series and people new to online games.
Phantasy Star Online 2 has so far only been announced for PC. A North American release has not been announced. An alpha test will begin sometime this summer in Japan. Screenshots of the game can be viewed here. Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity is an enhanced version of the original Phantasy Star Portable 2.
