Capcom has announced that it will be supporting Monster Hunter Tri in North America by releasing periodic quests online. The quests will be available for a limited amount of time, but will be offered multiple times in a cyclical schedule. They will reward players with items that can be used to upgrade weapons and armor in the base game. A schedule of the online quests will be updated on Capcom’s community site on the first Friday of every month.
There will be three types of quests available for download. Event Quests feature challenging hunts that can be tackled by up to four players online. Players will need to reach a certain monster hunter rank in order to take on Event Quests, but successful hunters will receive special weapons as rewards. Gigantic Monster Quests, a special kind of Event Quest, will be available for only one day at a time. Players will pilot a specialized ship, using customized weapons to battle the colossal Jhen Mohran. Finally, Arena Quests will allow teams of two players to battle beasts in an arena, offering higher value awards to teams who can defeat monsters quickly and efficiently.
Monster Hunter Tri will be available for the Wii in North America on April 20. It allows players to stalk their prey with either the Wiimote and Nunchuk or the Classic Controller, and supports on-line play and the Wii Speak accessory.
