The first portable game for the Wild Arms franchise, Wild ARMs XF for the PSP, has kept a low profile since it was first announced last year, but a few details have recently trickled in. The game is reported to be a tactical RPG which will include hexagon fields in battle, much like those in Wild ARMs 4. The game will also allow owners of the upcoming PlayStation 2 title Wild ARMs the Vth Vanguard to use a USB cable to access the game's six hidden bosses.
Not much is known about the game's plot, though it seems it will revolve around five characters: Clarissa, Labrina, Rogner, Fierce, and Lewin. Players will take on the role of Clarissa, a knight in the kingdom of Elecius. Clarissa is involved in a tragic accident which results in the death of the queen.
For those undaunted by kanji and kana, the game's Japanese site is up and running and includes character profiles, as well as brief descriptions of the story and battle system. There has been no word yet on a North American release, but keep an eye on RPGamer for more details as they become available.
