After a long, drawn out guessing game, Square Enix has finally clarified the genre of the upcoming Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII. Apparently unsatisfied with words like "shooting," the company has dubbed the game a "Gun Action RPG." Fans could already plainly see Vincent carrying a gun in the various screens and magazine scans that have been released, but this announcement confirms the presence of RPG elements coexisting with the action-type gameplay.
For the uninformed, Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII is a spinoff of Squaresoft's 1997 hit Final Fantasy VII, taking place a year after the end of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The game casts Vincent as the main character and will be on display at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
