Blizzard Entertainment has announced that July 5th will be the day in which gamers can start signing up for the European closed beta of its highly anticipated MMORPG, World of Warcraft. Those who wish to try their luck for a beta slot will have a three week window to sign up online through the official European Blizzard sites for English, French, and German gamers. Testers will be chosen at random so that a broad range of playing skills, geographical locations, and system specifications will be available to help iron out compatibility and game-play issues. Besides the obvious game-play and compatibility testing that will be going on, Blizzard plans to use the beta test to validate the distribution and hosting infrastructure in Europe, and verify the localization of the game in French and German.
World of Warcraft is slated to hit American shores in November. European fans aren't so lucky however, as a European date has yet to be announced.
