Developer Sega Wow has announced that Sakura Taisen V: Episode 0 will be on display July 17-18 in Tokyo at K-Fes, a promotional event put on by Kodansha, the publisher of the Sakura Taisen comic series. This is the first real news about the game since its debut at last year's Tokyo Game Show. While the announcement was unclear on the point, it appears that a playable version of the game will be at the event.
Sakura Taisen V: Episode 0 differs from other games in the series in a number of ways. The game is set in the American West, and will utilize 3D action rather than turn-based strategy combat. At last year's Tokyo Game Show, Sega Wow's Noriyoshi Ohba explained the changes as part of a strategy to bring the series to a North American audience. Sega of America, however, has yet to say anything about the game.
As of yet, no release date has been set. However, more details are likely to be forthcoming next month.
