New Tales of Rebirth information has been excavated from its official website. This round of news includes character profiles and more battle system details.
So far, four characters have been revealed: Veigue Lungberg, Claire Bennett, Eugene Gallardo, and Mao. Veigue is an 18-year-old from the icy northern village of Sulles. After being orphaned at a young age, he was taken in and raised by the Curea family. A mysterious incident a year earlier struck him speechless, making him seem cold and uncaring, but his true nature is the opposite. Claire is 17, and also from Sulles. She is cheerful and well-liked, and has never ventured far from her home town. Eugene is a 40-year-old Gajuma, a tiger-like being, who is burdened by his secret past with the Callegia Empire. He is the guardian of Mao, a 13-year-old boy with amnesia. In spite of his condition, Mao optimistically focuses on the future. He also has a great sense of humor and likes to joke around. Both Eugene and Mao travel the world, and they meet Veigue when they arrive in Sulles.
In battle, the Force Gauge has replaced the traditional Technical Points system. Players can assign skills to the four points of the D-pad on the PlayStation 2 Dual Shock controller. Skills have different recharge times between uses, and four marks on the Force Gauge show how close each selected skill is to being fully recharged.
