The news millions of fans have been waiting for has arrived, the release date for Pokémon Gold/Silver. The sequel to the original Pokémon game for the Game Boy has finally been given a release date: October 16th, 2000.
Nintendo expects to sell 10 million copies in the first six months on the North American release. That number would completely obliterate any previous video game selling record. Ever. Based on over six million units of Pokémon Gold/Silver sold in Japan to date, fullfilling this estimate is very possible.
While there was no mention of a pre-order campaign yet, it will come. It will likely be the largest flood of Pokémon craze yet, as this is history in the making. As for those who are not fans, sorry.
