Square Enix recently held a Dragon Quest 30th Anniversary Project Presentation for Japan, providing various details on upcoming Dragon Quest releases in the country. This came with the launching of the Dragon Quest 30th Anniversary website (in Japanese only), which currently features messages from series developers and a brief summary for upcoming Dragon Quest games.

One of the titles appearing the presentation was for spin-off Dragon Quest Builders, which will receive a demo in Japan for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on January 22, 2016. However, save data from the demo will not be compatible with the full game, which launches in the country for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita on January 31, 2016.

Another spin-off to appear was Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, which also received a demo announcement. The demo for Joker 3 is planned for early March, ahead of its release for Nintendo 3Ds on March 22, 2016. Square Enix also recently revealed that players can customise the colours of the hero's hair and clothing, as well as the colour of monsters.

The third title to receive release information was Dragon Quest Heroes II: Twin Kings and the Prophecy’s End, which is set to be released on May 27, 2016 (one day after the series' 30th anniversary). The follow-up to Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita.

Finally, a small note was offered regarding the long-awaited next mainline Dragon Quest game, Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time. Series creator Yuji Horii stated the story was nearly complete, with the early part of the game currently playable. The company plans to release the game, which is in development for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS, some time during the series' 30th anniversary year, defined as between May 27, 2016 and May 27, 2017. As of the time of writing, none of the titles mentioned above have been announced for a western release.
