Square Enix has announced that Drakengard 3 will be available in North America on May 20, 2014. The standard edition of the game will be available as a boxed product exclusively through the Square Enix Online Store, as well as digitally through PSN, for $49.99.
The company also revealed a Collector's Edition, which will also be sold exclusively through the online store, and will be limited to only 5000 copies. This boxed product will retail for $79.99 and will include premium packaging with the Japanese artwork, a complete prequel Novella, a soundtrack sampler, a double-sided poster, and three pieces of DLC.
The Collector's Edition DLC is Caim's costume, a prequel stage featuring Zero's sister, and a giant baby hat. Caim's costume will not only give player's a similar look to the protagonist from the original Drakengard, but will also cut stamina usage in half when using abilities. The giant baby hat will be wearable by the player's dragon companion, though it offers no stat bonuses.
Both editions of the game are currently available for pre-order and there will be three stages of bonuses available based on when the game is reserved. Prior to March 3, purchasers will receive Japanese voiceover DLC as well as two other bonuses that will be revealed on March 4 and April 9. Pre-ordering from March 4 to April 8 will net purchasers the last two bonuses, while orders from April 9 until launch will only receive the final bonus.
There is still time before the game releases in May. In the meantime, Square Enix has released the opening movie for Drakengard 3 in English which can be viewed below.
