Earlier this week, a Dengeki PlayStation magazine leak has confirmed that the third Atelier game for the PS3 will be Atelier Meruru. This title first appeared in a trademark database earlier this month. The main character, the titular Meruru, is 15 years old and lives in the country of Earls, which is some distance from Arland, the setting of previous games. Both Totori and Rorona, the stars of the two earlier PS3 games, will appear in Meruru, with Totori being Meruruís teacher. Rorona appears younger than in her respective game, but the reason was not explained by Dengeki PlayStation, as this game does not appear to be a prequel. Also, Atelier Meruru will be the end of the Arland storyline.
Other non-story details revealed in the magazine leak include enhanced graphics, redone battle system visual design, and being able to shape the world through Meruruís actions. Atelier Meruru will be released on June 23 of this year in a standard and limited edition in Japan. The latter includes a Meruru Nendoroid (a super deformed-style figurine) and a paper weight. Both versions will also come with a drama CD when pre-ordered.
