Dragon Quest VIII Approaches Critical Mass

At long last, Dragon Quest VIII, the latest installment of Square Enix's popular Dragon Quest series, is fully playable, says Square Enix president Yoichi Wada. It is only a matter of time until a tentative release date is set for Japan.

Dragon Quest VIII will be the first in the main series to be released under the name Square Enix. It is also a DQ first in that it features lush graphics and a fully 3D battle system, finally departing from the series' marked traditionally cut-out battle system and unimpressive graphical style. Exactly what other changes have been worked into this title remains a mystery.
