Yesterday, Square lifted cut the ribbon on the official Final Fantasy X web site. The site's launch is a step forward in what has been a remarkably discreet media campaign for the upcoming PS2 title. By comparison, Final Fantasy IX's characters found themselves in Coke commercials. The promotional web site can be found at www.playonline.com/ff10/index.html.
Final Fantasy X will feature a protagonist (currently) named Tidus, and the obligatory girlfriend/heroine is Yuna. The game's recently-announced staff list includes Front Mission's Toshiro Tsuchida, suggesting a significant departure from the long-anchored Active Time Battle system employed in previous games. Final Fantasy X is currently on track for a March launch in Japan.
