With the ridiculous number of RPGs already scheduled for 2016 — well over eighty when we started the voting process — it seems that just a top three in RPGamer's regular Game of the Year awards simply doesn't cut it. To that end we want to help highlight some of the RPG treats that we have to look forward to. Our staff members were consulted about how excited they are about the large number of already-confirmed games coming up, and using their input we have determined the top twenty games that we are most looking forward to playing.
There are a few rules that readers should be aware of before complaining about why certain games aren't included in this top twenty list, though we are under no allusions that we will still be missing off games that many are excited for. Firstly, a priority has been placed on games that are expected in 2016, so some games that are expected to slip or have already been pushed to 2017 will instead be found in our Honourable Mentions category. Secondly, we are only counting those games confirmed for western release, so games that were still Japan-only as of the start of January are not included. 2016 and beyond looks set of offer a ridiculous number of options for RPGamers all over. Enjoy reading our thoughts, and please come and respectfully criticise our selections and let us know the games you're most looking forward to on the forums.
